Gotion seeks 23.7 million dollars from Michigan township
The battery manufacturer Gotion Inc. has filed a federal court request for Green Township to repay over 23.7 million dollars in state incentives. The company argues that local opposition and zoning changes caused a project default that triggered a repayment demand from the state of Michigan.
Gotion Inc. filed a request for a federal judge to order Green Township to pay $23.7 million in damages following the collapse of a battery plant project. Gotion argued that the Michigan township's opposition made the development impossible, leading to a default on state incentive agreements. The legal dispute follows the Michigan Strategic Fund's move to recoup taxpayer funds after local zoning changes halted the project.
