Google to verify Indian investment apps to prevent scams
Google is introducing verification labels for investment apps in India to protect users from fraud. Only brokers registered with SEBI will receive this badge.
Alphabet Inc. is set to introduce a verification labeling system for investment applications on its digital storefront in India. This measure is part of a broader effort to help consumers identify legitimate trading platforms and avoid falling victim to financial scams.

According to a senior official at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the initiative will restrict the use of verified badges to brokers and intermediaries that are officially registered with the regulatory body. By highlighting these authorized entities, the platform aims to provide a clear distinction between genuine services and fraudulent applications that often impersonate well-known financial brands. This crackdown on deceptive software comes as digital fraud continues to be a primary concern for market regulators and technology providers alike.
