Gerresheimer Rejects Takeover Offer from Silgan
Gerresheimer rejected a takeover bid from Silgan to focus on accounting issues. The firm also plans to sell its U.S. packaging subsidiary Centor.
GERRESHEIMER AG, a leading medical packaging manufacturer headquartered in Germany, has rejected a takeover bid from its United States-based rival, SILGAN HOLDINGS INC. Sources familiar with the situation indicate that negotiations between the two entities have concluded without an agreement.

The decision to decline the offer reportedly stems from a desire to focus on internal priorities. According to one source, Gerresheimer is currently prioritizing the resolution of accounting challenges and the divestment of its subsidiary, Centor.
The interest from Silgan was first noted in March, with reports suggesting a non-binding offer of 41 euros ($48.31) per share. This proposal was valued at more than double the company's market price at the time. Despite the substantial premium, the German firm has opted to remain independent for the time being.
When asked about the reports, a spokesperson for the German manufacturer maintained a standard corporate stance:
"The company does not comment on market rumours."
Silgan has not yet provided a response to requests for comment regarding the termination of talks.
