German ministry confirms stable gas supply and rules out state intervention
Germany confirms gas supplies are secure this winter due to robust LNG imports. No market intervention is needed as storage levels remain above legal limits.
The German economy ministry announced on February 17, 2026, that the gas supply for Germany
DE is secure for the remainder of this winter and that no state intervention in the market is currently required. The ministry noted that the country has moved into a more stable position compared to the acute supply stress experienced last year. This improvement is attributed to a combination of higher storage levels, reduced consumption, and the strengthening of both pipeline import infrastructure and LNG terminals (Germany).
