German investor confidence in Hungary rises post-election
German investor morale in Hungary improved after Peter Magyar's election win. A survey found 42% of firms expect growth as the leader pursues pro-EU reforms.
Germany investors reported increased economic optimism for Hungary following the April 12 election that ousted Viktor Orban after his 16 years in power. The survey shows 42% of firms expect improvement, compared to 7% before the leadership change. A pro-European shift under incoming Prime Minister Peter Magyar may end three years of stagnation and stabilize the EUR/HUF exchange rate.
The German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce survey of 260 companies found 25% are now more willing to invest. Hungarian bonds and the forint rallied as investors anticipate a market-friendly turn under the new administration.
