Germany experienced an unexpected dip in inflation to 2% in February, according to provisional data released on Friday. The decline was largely attributed to falling energy costs and followed a trend of softening price growth across the euro zone. Financial analysts surveyed by Reuters had previously anticipated that the harmonized inflation rate would remain at the 2.1% level recorded in January. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes the volatile prices of food and energy, remained stable at 2.5%.
Economists have pointed to a combination of factors supporting this downward trend.
