Germany Approves 1.9 Billion Dollar Fuel Price Relief
Germany will cut fuel taxes for two months to offset rising energy costs. The 1.9 billion dollar plan also allows firms to pay tax-free bonuses to employees.
The governing coalition in Germany has announced a fuel price relief package worth 1.6 billion euros ($1.9 billion) to alleviate the financial burden on consumers and businesses. This move follows a sharp rise in global energy costs, which has significantly impacted the price of Brent Crude Oil and the EUR/USD exchange rate.
Under the agreement between the CDU and SPD, the energy tax on petrol and diesel will be reduced by approximately 0.17 euros per litre for two months. Furthermore, companies are permitted to pay a tax-free relief bonus of up to 1,000 euros per employee, exempt from social security and payroll charges.
