Gazprom Says TurkStream Gas Infrastructure Under Attack
Russian firm Gazprom reported that its TurkStream facilities faced twelve attacks. Officials in Sochi noted drone strikes lasted over twenty-four hours.
PJSC Gazprom reported on Wednesday that its facilities in southern Russia have come under aerial attack, including the Russkaya pumping station. This facility is a critical node for the TurkStream subsea pipeline, which exports natural gas to Europe. The company stated that all attacks were thwarted. According to Gazprom, facilities linked to the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines have been targeted 12 times in the past two weeks.
Ukraine has intensified its strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, including oil refineries, as part of an ongoing effort to diminish military capabilities. Andrei Proshunin, the mayor of the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, reported that the city recently faced a significant wave of drone activity.
The city had faced unprecedented drone attacks which had lasted for more than 24 hours.

Turkey remains the only transit route for Russian gas exports to Europe. However, these exports have declined sharply; in 2025, pipeline gas exports to Europe fell by 44% to approximately 18 billion cubic metres, the lowest level since the mid-1970s. This decline comes as the European Union continues to phase out energy imports from Russia.
Despite the overall reduction, several countries continue to receive gas via the TurkStream pipeline. In addition to Turkey, these include Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia.
