GAC to Invest 1.3 Billion Dollars in Brazil Production
GAC will invest $1.3 billion to start vehicle production in Brazil by 2027. The firm aims for an annual capacity of 50,000 units through a local partnership.
The major automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. has announced its intention to begin vehicle production in Brazil by 2027. The company plans to establish a local manufacturing footprint with an initial annual capacity of up to 50,000 vehicles.
This expansion involves a total investment of $1.3 billion through 2030, aimed at solidifying the brand's operations and presence in the South American market. By the end of that period, the company anticipates its annual sales in the country will reach approximately 100,000 units.

The production strategy will be executed in collaboration with HPE Automotores, a local manufacturer based in the state of Goias. GAC has already taken preliminary steps toward this goal by opening a parts distribution center in the state of Sao Paulo.
The move to manufacture locally aligns with Brazilian industrial policy and reflects the country's importance as one of GAC's key markets outside China.
In its home market, the group is well-known for its ongoing joint ventures with prominent international partners such as Toyota Motor Corporation and Honda Motor Co., Ltd..
The entry into the Brazilian manufacturing sector comes amid a surge of activity from other international competitors. Firms such as BYD Company Limited and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., along with GWM, have also significantly expanded their footprints in the region as they vie for market share in the growing Brazilian automotive industry.
