Gabon has formally requested a financial support program from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a move intended to stabilize the finances of the Central African OPEC member and improve fiscal transparency. The request follows a 10-day visit by an IMF delegation to the nation of 2.6 million people, marking the first such mission since the government expressed interest in a loan after considering market-based funding for over a year.
