French wine and spirits exports decline for third consecutive year as trade barriers impact global sales

Trade tensions with the United States and China led to an eight percent drop in export value last year. The industry now looks toward new emerging markets.

French wine and spirits exports fell for a third consecutive year in 2025, with the total value of shipments declining 8 percent to 14.3 billion euros. According to full-year results, export volumes also saw a 3 percent reduction, falling to 168 million cases. This downward trend has resulted in a 17 percent decrease in export value since 2022, causing the sector to slip from its position as the second-largest export category in France FRFR to the third-largest.
