Alta Ares raises 50 million euros for counter-drone tech

French startup Alta Ares raised 50 million euros to boost production of AI-equipped drone interceptors. It plans to expand into Poland, Germany, and the U.S.

France-based Alta Ares raised €50 million in its second funding round on Tuesday to scale production of AI-powered counter-drone ammunition. The capital injection follows a €2 million round in May 2025 as demand for air defense systems rises during the war in Ukraine. European and U.S. venture capital firms participated in the raise to fund the expansion of hardware designed to intercept mass-produced aerial threats.
