France invites four nations to G7 summit without China
France invited India, South Korea, Brazil, and Kenya to June's G7 summit to address economic issues. China will not attend amid energy shocks and trade tensions.
France has announced its intention to host the leaders of India, South Korea, Brazil, and Kenya at the upcoming G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains this June. The decision, according to the Elysee Palace, is part of a strategic effort to broaden international support for correcting global economic imbalances and preventing a widespread financial crisis.
At the heart of the French agenda is a push for China to stimulate domestic demand and reduce exports that Paris characterizes as destabilizing to the global economy. While Beijing will not be present at the June 15-17 gathering, French officials emphasized that the invited nations represent democracies and market economies that adhere to international cooperation standards.
