Foreign Bids Drive UK M&A to Record 192 Billion Dollars
British mergers and acquisitions have reached 192 billion dollars so far this year as foreign bidders capitalize on lower stock valuations. U.S. investors account for over half of these inbound deals, which include major offers for firms such as Intertek and Tate and Lyle.
Foreign bids for companies in the United Kingdom reached $192B so far in 2026, more than tripling the volume from the same period last year. The surge puts the country on track to break all previous annual dealmaking records. Investors are capitalizing on a valuation gap as British equities trade at a discount compared to peers in the United States and Europe.
