Ford Recalls 420,000 US Vehicles for Seat Belt Issues
Ford is recalling nearly 420,000 SUVs because seat belts may fail to retract or extend. Dealers will inspect and replace the faulty components at no cost.
FORD MOTOR CO will recall 419,967 vehicles in the United States due to faulty seat-belt pretensioners. The recall targets specific 2018-2022 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models that may fail to restrain occupants during a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that the defect increases the risk of injury in these Ford SUVs.
### Safety Risks Drive Large-Scale Recall The NHTSA announced the recall on Wednesday. The regulator found that seat-belt pretensioners in the driver or front passenger seats may inadvertently lock. This defect prevents the belts from retracting or extending properly, which increases injury risks during collisions.
