Five EU nations oppose loosening merger rules to create industrial champions

Ireland and four other EU nations warned against easing merger rules to foster larger firms. They argue current laws already support growth and innovation.

Five European Union member states, including Finland FIFI, Ireland IEIE, the Czech Republic CZCZ, Estonia EEEE, and Latvia LVLV, have formally warned against loosening EU merger rules. This collective stance comes at a critical time as the European Commission is currently revamping the regulatory framework that governs corporate consolidations across the bloc.
