Finnair reports smaller first quarter loss as demand rises
Finnair reported a first-quarter loss of 0.6 million euros, beating analyst estimates. Revenue grew 12.1% as demand for Asian flights offset high fuel costs.
FINNAIR OYJ reported a smaller-than-expected comparable operating loss for the first quarter of 2026, as a surge in demand for Asian routes helped offset rising fuel expenses. The national carrier of Finland saw its comparable operating loss narrow to 0.6 million euros, a substantial improvement from the 62.6 million euro loss recorded during the same period last year.
The quarterly performance exceeded market expectations, with analysts previously forecasting a loss of 2.1 million euros. Revenue for the period increased by 12.1% to reach 778.1 million euros, compared to the first quarter of 2025 when the airline's operations were impacted by labor conflicts.
