Nations Call for Full Iran War Ceasefire Amid Economic Risk
Finance ministers from 11 nations led by Britain urged a full Iran war ceasefire today. They warned the conflict risks global economic and market stability.
Finance ministers from a coalition of nearly a dozen nations, led by the United Kingdom, have issued a joint call for the United States, Israel, and Iran to fully implement a ceasefire. The group warned on Wednesday that the ongoing conflict will continue to weigh heavily on the global economy and financial markets, even if a resolution is achieved in the near term.
The statement was signed by ministers from Australia, Japan, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, Spain, Norway, Ireland, Poland, and New Zealand. This collective action follows the International Monetary Fund's decision to cut global growth forecasts due to the war. The ministers emphasized that the hostilities have caused an unacceptable loss of life and that any further escalation or disruption in the Strait of Hormuz would pose severe risks to global energy security and supply chains.
