The United States Federal Reserve Vice Chair for Supervision, Michelle Bowman, announced on Thursday that capital requirements for large banks are set to decrease slightly under newly revised drafts of banking regulations. Speaking at the Cato Institute in Washington, Bowman described the changes to the Basel rules and the Global Systemically Important Bank (GSIB) surcharge as a sensible recalibration of existing standards.
