European companies beat earnings forecasts as high valuations temper market gains

European firms are beating fourth-quarter earnings estimates as the economy improves. Yet high market valuations are tempering investor reactions to results.

洞察:
European companies are currently navigating a fourth-quarter earnings season that has delivered an average earnings growth of 3.9%, significantly outperforming earlier projections of a 1.1% contraction. With companies representing 57% of Europe's market capitalisation having already reported their results, a clear majority of firms have managed to beat analyst expectations. However, despite these robust headline figures, positive share-price reactions have remained notably constrained across the region.
