The European Union has recommended that its member states reduce their natural gas storage targets and initiate a gradual refilling process. This measure is intended to curb demand as energy prices fluctuate due to the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen has reportedly advised member states to lower the filling target for gas storage facilities to 80% of capacity, a decrease from the previous 90% mandate. This shift is intended to provide market participants with greater certainty during the early stages of the filling season.
