EU May Release Jet Fuel Stocks Amid Hormuz Disruption
The EU is ready to release jet fuel stocks if Strait of Hormuz disruptions continue. Officials aim to prevent summer travel delays despite no current shortages.
The European Union is prepared to coordinate a release of strategic jet fuel reserves if shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz persist. While Iran recently announced the temporary reopening of the critical waterway following a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, regional tensions remain high. European aviation regulators and airlines have warned that continued supply bottlenecks from the Middle East could lead to widespread flight cancellations and grounded aircraft during the peak summer travel season. Despite the recent announcement from Tehran, the United States has indicated that its naval blockade of Iranian ports will remain in place until a broader diplomatic agreement is reached.
