Equinix and CPPIB Near 4 Billion Dollar Buy of atNorth
Equinix and CPPIB are nearing a 4 billion dollar deal to buy Nordic data-center operator atNorth. The acquisition would expand their digital infrastructure.
Equinix, Inc. and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) are reportedly nearing a deal to acquire atNorth, a pan-Nordic data-center operator. The transaction, which could be announced in the coming days, is expected to value the company at approximately $4 billion, including debt. The acquisition would see the exit of Partners Group Holding AG, which has backed the operator since 2022. Headquartered in Iceland, atNorth operates a network of data centers across Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. The company specializes in providing infrastructure for hyperscale cloud providers, artificial intelligence applications, and high-performance computing. Since being acquired by Partners Group, the business has undergone significant regional expansion to meet rising demand. The potential deal reflects a broader trend in the industry, as Equinix continues to expand its global footprint to capture the surge in digital infrastructure needs. Simultaneously, large institutional investors like pension funds are increasing their exposure to data-center assets, viewing them as critical components of the modern economy. While the deal is reportedly close to completion, CPPIB and Partners Group have declined to comment on the matter, and Equinix has not yet issued a formal response.
