CVC and Prudential Frontrunners for Standard Life Deal
A consortium led by CVC Capital and Prudential Financial is seeking a stake in Standard Life for over 1 billion pounds. A final agreement may be reached in May.
A consortium led by CVC CAPITAL PARTNERS PLC and PRUDENTIAL FINANCIAL INC has emerged as the leading contender to acquire a significant stake in the pension risk transfer (PRT) business of Standard Life. The deal, which involves a stake valued at over 1 billion pounds ($1.35 billion), highlights the intensifying competition within the insurance and retirement sectors.
Standard Life is reportedly positioning this joint venture as a strategic move to better compete with major North American private equity and investment groups. Specifically, the partnership aims to provide the scale necessary to rival firms such as APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT INC and BROOKFIELD CORP, which have become dominant players in the global PRT market.
