In an effort to address a worsening energy crisis, officials from Cuba have reportedly petitioned Vatican City to mediate with the United States regarding the current oil embargo. According to a report by the Washington Post, senior Cuban representatives held high-level meetings with officials at the Holy See, including Pope Leo, to request diplomatic assistance in persuading the administration of President Donald Trump to ease trade restrictions.
