Cristal Union Revenue Falls 14 Percent on Low Sugar Prices
French sugar maker Cristal Union reported a 14 percent revenue drop to 2.28 billion euros. The group posted a net loss following a significant impairment charge.
French producer Cristal Union has reported a 14% decline in annual revenue, citing a sharp downturn in European Sugar prices and rising operational costs. For the fiscal year ending January 31, the company's revenue reached 2.28 billion euros, down from the previous period. The group also recorded a net loss of 442 million euros, a sharp reversal from the 117 million euro profit seen a year earlier, largely driven by a substantial 462 million euro impairment charge.
The financial pressure is not unique to Cristal Union. Other major European producers, including SUEDZUCKER AG based in Germany and Tereos Finance Groupe in France, have also faced impairments due to the market volatility.
