Citizens Financial Group Reports Thirty Two Percent Profit Surge as Shares Hit Record

Providence, Rhode Island-based Citizens Financial Group reported a 32% year-over-year surge in fourth-quarter net profit to $528 million on January 21, 2026. The company posted these results for the three months ended December 31, 2026, recording earnings of $1.13 per share compared with $401 million, or 83 cents per share, a year earlier. Following the announcement, shares of Citizens Financial Grouphit an all-time high of $63.70 and were trading up more than 6%.
The bank's financial performance was driven by a 9% rise in net interest income, which reached $1.54 billion as the net interest margin expanded by 20 basis points. Non-interest income also climbed 8% to $620 million. Significant growth was seen in fee-based segments, as wealth management fees climbed 31% during the October-to-December period and capital market fees jumped 16%.
