Banks in China are expected to have seen a significant surge in lending during March, driven by a seasonal recovery and strengthening credit demand following the Lunar New Year holiday. According to a Reuters poll of 17 economists, financial institutions likely issued approximately 3.4 trillion yuan ($497.61 billion) in net new yuan loans last month. This represents a sharp increase from the 900 billion yuan reported in February, as activity typically rebounds and banks accelerate issuance to meet first-quarter targets.
