Chinese customs authorities and government officials have issued directives to domestic technology companies instructing them not to purchase NVIDIA Corporation H200 artificial intelligence chips. This development effectively blocks the high-end processors from entering China CNCNand creates a de facto ban that could eliminate a revenue opportunity valued at more than $54 billion. The instructions were delivered this week as customs agents were told the chips are not permitted to enter the country, while officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other agencies summoned major firms to meetings where they were told not to purchase the chips unless absolutely necessary.
