China gold production fell 3.3% to 136.230 metric tons in the first quarter of 2026 as consumption rose 4.4%. Domestic output dropped 7.1% to 81.065 tons following safety inspections and smelter maintenance. Surging investment demand for gold bars and coins is offsetting a sharp decline in jewelry sales.
