Causeway Capital Raises Wizz Air Stake to 5.04 Percent
Causeway Capital raised its Wizz Air stake to 5.04% this week as shares hit a record low. The airline expects a profit hit from Middle East regional conflict.
Causeway Capital Management has significantly increased its investment in Wizz Air Holdings Plc, raising its stake to 5.04% from a previous 2.04%. According to a regulatory filing released on Friday, the Los Angeles-based activist investor has now positioned itself as one of the largest shareholders in the European budget carrier.
The increase in ownership comes at a time of heightened pressure for the airline. Earlier this week, the company warned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East would likely reduce its net profit for the 2026 fiscal year by approximately 50 million euros. This forecast adds to existing challenges, including engine-related groundings and a general softening in market demand.
