New residential construction in Canada experienced a modest increase during February, suggesting that the underlying trend for housing starts remains stable despite typical monthly fluctuations. The national housing agency reported on Monday that the pace of new builds edged higher as the winter season progressed.
According to the latest figures released by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the seasonally adjusted annualized rate of housing starts reached 250,900 units. This represents an uptick from the revised January figure of 240,148 units.
