The United Kingdom saw its S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) settle at 51.0, a decline from February's 51.7. This surge in expenses is largely attributed to supply chain disruptions and rising energy prices linked to geopolitical tensions.

The increase in raw material and operational expenses was driven primarily by the rising market prices of Brent Crude Oil and Natural Gas. Additionally, transportation costs have spiked as shipping routes are diverted to avoid the Strait of Hormuz. This maritime corridor has been effectively closed by Iran following military actions involving the United States and Israel that began in late February.
