Global energy markets reacted sharply on Thursday as Brent Crude Oil futures surged by more than $1 per barrel. The price spike followed aggressive rhetoric from the United States regarding maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies. Brent futures rose $1.26, or 1.24%, to reach $103.17 a barrel, while West Texas Oil futures gained 72 cents to trade at $93.68.
