BP sells Gelsenkirchen refinery and raises cost targets
BP announced on Thursday the sale of its Gelsenkirchen refinery to Klesch Group. The company also increased its 2027 cost savings goal to 7.5 billion dollars.
BP confirmed on Thursday its intention to divest the Gelsenkirchen refinery to the Klesch Group, a move aligned with its updated financial framework. Alongside the sale, the multinational energy firm has adjusted its medium-term cost reduction ambitions, targeting an additional $1 billion in savings to reach a total of $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion by 2027. This strategic pivot occurs as various sectors respond to shifting economic pressures. Within the broader market, entities such as Rh and TFF GROUP are also monitoring industrial shifts that impact operational overhead. For BP, the divestment represents a significant step in reallocating capital toward its primary growth areas while maintaining a leaner corporate structure.
