BlackRock Upgrades US Stocks on Strong Earnings Outlook
BlackRock upgraded US stocks to overweight today. The firm cited resilient corporate earnings and limited economic fallout from Middle East geopolitical risks.
The BLACKROCK INC Investment Institute has upgraded its outlook on United States equities to overweight, joining a growing chorus of Wall Street firms that see corporate earnings as a buffer against geopolitical instability. The asset manager cited strong profit expectations, particularly in the technology sector, and a belief that risks associated with oil price fluctuations will have a limited impact on global economic growth.
Market optimism has helped the S&P 500 recover significantly, rising nearly 8% from its March lows. Investors had previously been concerned that a spike in energy costs or disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz would exacerbate inflation. However, the market remained steady even after recent discussions between the U.S. and Iran failed to produce a definitive resolution to regional tensions.
