Amazon Issues Record 14 Billion Canadian Dollar Bond Deal
Amazon has issued 14 billion Canadian dollars in notes to mark the largest ever corporate bond deal in Canada. The e-commerce giant is diversifying its funding to support significant investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centers.
AMAZON.COM INC issued C$14 billion ($10.04 billion) in Canadian dollar-denominated notes, marking a record for the local corporate bond market. The deal surpasses the previous C$8.5 billion record set by ALPHABET INC-CL A last month. Hyperscalers are tapping international markets to finance massive AI infrastructure and data center investments.
Global firms are flocking to the Canada maple bond market to capitalize on investor appetite and cheaper borrowing costs. Maple bonds allow foreign borrowers from the United States to issue debt directly to Canadian investors.
