AkzoNobel beats Q1 profit estimates on cost savings
AkzoNobel reported a first quarter core profit of 345 million euros, beating analyst estimates. Better pricing and cost savings helped offset a slight drop.
AKZO NOBEL N.V., the manufacturer of Dulux paint, reported first-quarter core profits that exceeded market expectations on Wednesday. Despite a slight decline in overall earnings, the company benefited from strategic pricing adjustments and internal cost-saving measures. The paints and coatings giant, based in the Netherlands, posted adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of 345 million euros ($405 million) for the quarter. While this figure represents a 3% decrease from the 357 million euros recorded during the same period last year, it comfortably surpassed the analyst consensus of 323 million euros provided by the firm. The performance highlights the resilience of AkzoNobel's operations amid broader economic shifts. The company managed to offset some volume pressures through improved pricing strategies and a focus on operational efficiency.
