Air France-KLM lowers capacity outlook on rising costs
Air France-KLM posted a smaller first-quarter loss of 27 million euros. It cut its 2026 capacity growth forecast to 2% to 4% due to rising fuel costs and war.
AIR FRANCE-KLM narrowed its first-quarter operating loss to 27 million euros, beating the 389 million euro loss projected by LSEG analysts. The result is a 301 million euro improvement over last year before fuel price increases impact the coming quarters. Investors face lower growth as the carrier cut its 2026 capacity outlook to 2% to 4% amid geopolitical risk.
### Rising Fuel Costs and Geopolitical Constraints Air France-KLM Chief Executive Ben Smith stated that while fuel price increases did not hit first-quarter results, they will weigh on upcoming performance. The airline expects its 2026 fuel bill to rise by 2.4 billion euros compared to 2025.
