Acerinox reports 47 million euro loss but sees recovery
The Spanish steelmaker posted a 47 million euro quarterly loss due to low demand. CEO Bernardo Velázquez expects a slow recovery and profit growth during 2026.
The Spain-based steel producer Acerinox, S.A. reported a net loss for the fourth quarter, attributing the decline to a combination of seasonal demand drops, global tariff tensions, and sustained price pressures. Despite the recent financial downturn, the company’s leadership has signaled a potential recovery path beginning in 2026.
For the final three months of the year, the manufacturer posted a net loss of 47 million euros ($55 million). This result stands in contrast to the 63 million euro net profit recorded during the same period in the previous year. Looking ahead, the firm expects core profits to begin improving on a quarter-on-quarter basis starting in the first three months of the current year.
