The Japanese yen recovered ground on Thursday as investors analyzed the latest signals from the central bank of Japan for clues regarding the future path of interest rates. The currency rose 0.2% against the dollar to 155.99 yen, snapping a two-day losing streak after Governor Kazuo Ueda indicated that the prospect of a near-term rate hike remains viable. In a recent interview, Ueda noted that the bank would evaluate economic data during its upcoming March and April meetings to determine policy adjustments.
David Chao, a global market strategist for Asia Pacific at Invesco Ltd., noted that the central bank is navigating a complex economic environment.
