European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Wednesday that the European Union would be making a strategic blunder if it sought to blunt soaring energy prices with a return to fossil fuel imports from Russia. Speaking before the European Parliament, she addressed arguments that the current crisis justifies a retreat from the bloc's long-term energy strategy.
"In the current crisis, some argue that we should abandon our long-term strategy and even go back to Russian fossil fuels."
