Acting President Delcy Rodriguez of Venezuela has signed new oil agreements with the international energy major Shell plc, according to reports from state television on Thursday. The deal was formalized during a meeting in Caracas that included high-ranking officials from the United States.
While specific details of the contracts were not immediately disclosed, state broadcaster VTV aired silent footage of Rodriguez meeting with attendees, including U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. Burgum, who also serves as the head of the National Energy Dominance Council, has been in the country to discuss investment opportunities in the oil and mineral sectors.
