Uzbekistan National Investment Fund Lists in London
The National Investment Fund of Uzbekistan raised over 690 million dollars in its London debut this week. The successful listing is expected to encourage further international offerings from both state and private Uzbek enterprises through 2028.
Uzbekistan raised $690 million through its National Investment Fund's IPO in the United Kingdom during the current week. The listing attracted $2.8 billion in orders, marking the largest debut on the LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE GROUP this year. The government plans to sell minority stakes in state-owned enterprises through 2028 as part of economic liberalization.
### Why the London Debut Matters for Central Asia The IPO represents the first international listing for an Uzbek entity. Marius Dan, CEO for Central Asia at Templeton Global Investments, said the high level of enthusiasm should open the path for other state and private firms to list. FRANKLIN RESOURCES INC manages the fund, which holds minority stakes in energy, transport, and infrastructure assets.
