US tentatively approves Wizz Air UK flights to America
The US Transportation Department tentatively approved Wizz Air UK flights to the United States on Thursday. A final decision follows a 21-day objection period.
The United States Department of Transportation has granted tentative approval for the budget airline Wizz Air Holdings Plc to begin operating flights connecting the United Kingdom and the U.S. market. The decision follows a formal request submitted in January by the carrier's British subsidiary, which sought a foreign air carrier permit to initiate these services at the earliest opportunity. According to the USDOT, the current approval remains provisional. The department has established a 21-day period during which it will consider any formal objections from stakeholders before a final determination is reached. This expansion marks a significant step for the European budget carrier as it looks to establish a presence in the competitive transatlantic aviation sector.
