Greer says WTO cannot fix trade but US will not leave
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says the WTO cannot fix trade imbalances but the US will not exit. He plans to seek alternative deals for e-commerce.
The United States Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, stated on Tuesday that while the World Trade Organization (WTO) is currently unable to address fundamental challenges within the global trading system, Washington is not yet prepared to withdraw from the international body. Speaking during a live interview on Bloomberg Television, Greer addressed concerns regarding the future of American participation following a recent ministerial gathering in Cameroon that failed to produce an agreement on key reforms.
Greer highlighted that the organization has historically struggled to manage significant economic pressures, including structural trade imbalances and currency fluctuations.
