Stock index futures in the United States were subdued on Wednesday as investors weighed fluctuating crude prices against an upcoming inflation report and escalating tensions in the Middle East. While intensifying air strikes have threatened shipping through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, oil prices retreated to under $90 a barrel from nearly $120 earlier in the week. This decline followed reports that the International Energy Agency is considering a release of oil reserves to stabilize global supply, alongside reassurances from President Donald Trump that the conflict might not be prolonged.
