US oil production fell to lowest level since June
US oil output fell to 13.66 million barrels per day in December while demand hit a multi-month high. Natural gas production rose to a record-breaking level.
Crude oil production in the United States declined for the second month in a row in December, falling to its lowest level since June 2025. Data released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Friday indicates that output averaged 13.66 million barrels per day (bpd), a drop of 133,000 bpd from the previous month. This represents the sharpest monthly contraction since January 2025, when extreme weather conditions disrupted operations at major production sites.
While the nation maintains its status as the world's leading producer, market observers have noted a cooling in output growth as prices soften. Although the global benchmark Brent Crude Oil influences overall sentiment, domestic West Texas Intermediate futures were trading near $67 per barrel, down from approximately $77.50 a year earlier.
