US Strikes Iranian Oil Terminal Amid Gulf Energy Conflict
US forces struck Iran's Kharg Island terminal today while Gulf energy hubs face heavy damage. The IEA reports record supply disruptions as shipping halts.
The escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has triggered a global energy crisis, with more than 40 critical infrastructure assets damaged across the Middle East. According to the International Energy Agency, the region is experiencing the largest supply disruption in history. The United States has issued a fresh ultimatum to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by the end of Tuesday, a demand that Tehran has rejected while threatening further strikes on Gulf infrastructure.
Military operations have severely impacted Iranian production and export capabilities. On April 7, military forces targeted the main export terminal at Kharg Island. This follows previous Israeli strikes on the South Pars gas field and the Asaluyeh processing hub in mid-March. Damage has also been reported at fuel depots in Tehran and the premises of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, as confirmed by international monitors.
