US Treasury extends Lukoil asset sale deadline to May 30

The United States Treasury extended the deadline for energy firms to buy LUKOIL PJSC international assets to May 30. This marks the fifth extension since the Treasury imposed sanctions on the Russia based producer in October. Investors eyeing the $22B portfolio face strict oversight and escrow requirements to prevent capital flow to Moscow.
### Global Portfolio Under Pressure The Treasury Department pushed the deadline from May 1 to late May in a midday update on Wednesday. The Trump administration previously slowed the $22B asset sale in February to increase pressure during Ukraine peace talks.
